Knitting needle punctures puppy’s heart
It is certainly a happy new year for a black, white and caramel papillon named Tutti and her owners after Tutti survived a puncture to her heart on New Year’s Eve. The 17-week-old dog fell onto a knitting needle, which lodged in her heart. X-rays and an ultrasound at Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital in Durham, N.C., revealed that Tutti bled into her chest from the wound. Veterinarian Jennifer Myers pulled the needle out while the dog was under anesthesia, and Tutti is now home and doing well. The News & Observer (Raleigh, N.C.) (1/5)
